About JOTI

JOTI is a family run business, driven by our love for exploring the great outdoors as a family and sharing those experiences with others. We are based in Winton, Southland.

Darren spent 25 years working as a Youthworker, the outdoors playing a major role in his work. He now works for the New Zealand Red Cross, helping former refugees settle in Invercargill. One of the most rewarding aspects of his job is the bike project, providing bikes for families when they arrive. $25 from every rack sold is donated to the bike project.

Angela is a teacher who loves the beach, camping, and skiing.

Our boys, Josh and Timo, are very active—biking, surfing, and kayaking in the summer, and skiing and playing rugby in the winter.

For us, adventure is about family. The name JOTI, is simply derived from the first two letters of the boys' names, serving as a meaningful reminder of what it’s all about.

Bike Recycling Project

We support the New Zealand Red Cross bike recycling project for former refugees in Invercargill.  $25 from every bike rack sold will be donated to help fund the project. Each year, approximately 80 bikes are provided to former refugees who arrive in the city, helping them get around. It's a very cool project, both in terms of the environmental impact of recyclingand for empowering refugee families with greater independence and mobility.

Bikes are either donated or purchased, then repaired and serviced in a workshop in Invercargill.  Helmets, locks, pumps, and other accessories are also provided to the families.  From time to time, workshops are held to teach biking and maintenance skills.

Darren from Joti manages this project and describes it as one of the most rewarding aspects of his job.
